Charles J. Daly was brutally murdered by Crown Forces

Charles J Daly was a volunteer with the Irish Republican Army #IRA, his life was taken in 1921.

Daly was tortured while Under Arrest and his brutalised body was dumped in Vernon Woods.  There is currently no memorial in #Cork to his memory, we had an opportunity to correct that.

Cork City Council ran a ‘Public Consultation’ to name the new footbridge from Vernon Wood into Tramore Park, we urged people to make online submissions, to name the bridge:

” Charles J. Daly Bridge “

Unfortunately this opportunity was missed and the bridge is to get the name ‘Vernon Mount’ – after the old landlord in the area.

City Hall is controlled by ‘West Britons’.
